Abstract

In this editorial, we provide a tribute to Professor (Prof) Brigitte Smit, who died on 15th October 2022. In particular, we celebrate the life of Prof Smit who graced this earth not just an extraordinary researcher and scholar, but also a lifelong learner, an inspiring mentor, an unwavering advocate for her students, and a dear friend to many.
