Abstract
In this editorial, we introduce the latest issue (Volume 17, Issue 2) of the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches (IJMRA), Specifically, we present two coordinated methodological contributions that address persistent conceptual ambiguity surrounding the nature, classification, and differentiation of research frameworks across qualitative research, quantitative research, and mixed methods research traditions. The first article advances a comprehensive taxonomy of 23 framework types organized into six overarching families, providing a systematic classificatory structure and shared conceptual vocabulary. The second article builds on this architecture by examining definitional drift between conceptual frameworks and theoretical frameworks through a structured analysis of methodological literature published between 2000 and 2025. Together, these contributions seek to restore epistemic differentiation, to clarify complementary functions, and to strengthen disciplined pluralism in research practice. By integrating macro-level taxonomy with focused conceptual refinement, these paired IJMRA articles are intended to enhance coherence, transparency, pedagogical clarity, and cumulative knowledge-building across research traditions.
